Beacon President's Message August 2020

I hope your summer is going well. We are keeping busy here at Beacon, assisting our clients on a wide range of projects, including consulting on a number of construction projects delayed by Covid-19 and finding ways to help get them back on schedule asap. The construction industry is adjusting to the "new normal," which includes dealing with many postponed / delayed projects, managing construction sites differently to protect workers, and, for some GCs and Subcontractors, finding ways to survive through a period of economic uncertainty.

In this month's E-News, we highlight some of the consulting services Beacon provides which help sureties, insurers, and construction companies during this challenging period. In particular, we have been very active in recent months working on Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI) consulting assignments. SDI claims are sure to increase as many subcontractors have been facing cash flow issues caused by project delays, cancellations, and postponements related to the pandemic. Thus, determining the root causes of schedule delays, efficiently investigating/evaluating SDI claims, and helping to find solutions to get projects back on track are more important than ever.

Also in this month's E-News you'll find a staff bio for Kieran O'Connor, one of our Senior Project Managers who will now be taking a more active role in Beacon's presence in the Southeastern U.S., as Beacon establishes an office in South Florida. We have worked on many projects in Florida and all over the Southeastern U.S. over the years, but we now plan to greatly expand our activity there. We know that Kieran will continue to provide a high level of service to our clients from his new home base. As always, please contact us if we can help you with any challenge you are facing.
