Beacon Staff Profile: Virginia Adams, Project Engineer

We are happy to introduce Virginia Adams who joined Beacon's team in September of 2019. Virginia, who also goes by "Ginger," is a Project Engineer working in our Medford, MA office. Virginia is a graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Massachusetts where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering.

At Beacon, Virginia's diligence and analytical skills make her a valuable team member working on a wide variety of construction consulting assignments, including:

  • Assisting on Surety-related construction consulting projects
  • Cost-to-complete assessments
  • Participation in the day to day operations of construction completion projects
  • Construction project bid review & analysis
  • Assisting with construction defects assignments

Prior to joining Beacon, Virginia gained valuable experience as a Construction Management Intern for the City of Framingham, MA Department of Public Works. There she was involved a broad range of activities related to managing and monitoring construction projects in the city.

Virginia is very passionate about the environment and sustainability. While in college, she was actively involved with both the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES) and the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA). During college she participated in two very interesting water-related projects, including:

  • Researching, designing, and building a rainwater catchment and water delivery system for an educational farm in Paxton, MA. Virginia said it was very fulfilling to lead the team for this project on different construction days and to see her design become a working system.
  • Analyzing stormwater runoff on her college campus. Virginia's team sampled various locations with different surface types (pavement, walkway, grass, rooftop, etc.) and used the information to create the most cost-effective stormwater management system for the WPI campus. It ended up being a combination of storm drain filters and rainwater gardens.

In her free time, Virginia likes to spend time with her friends and family, as well as taking hikes with her dog Dexter. Virginia also enjoys visiting museums and loves art. Two of her favorite hobbies are drawing and painting.
