President's Message, May 2023

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! It's hard to believe that Memorial Day weekend is already here. This year has truly been flying by. So far, 2023 has been a very busy year for everyone here at Beacon. We have added new team members and are working on new projects all across the U.S. As always, I would like to thank our many great clients who turn to Beacon to take on the most challenging construction consulting assignments, particularly when it comes to evaluating and turning around troubled projects...

President's Message, March 2023

Happy March! March is always a great month here in the Northeast U.S., with longer, warmer days signaling the end of winter. For Beacon, March 3, 2023 represented a major milestone: The 20th Anniversary of the founding of Beacon Consulting Group, Inc (03/03/2003). Please see my full note in this month's E-News regarding our 20th Anniversary and some of Beacon's highlights over the past 20 years...

Beacon Celebrates 20 Years in Business! A Note From Dennis O'Neill (March 2023)

As I write this note, I'm down working in Beacon's New York City office. This is just a few short blocks from where Beacon was founded 20 years ago this week. At that time, I was a young engineer in my early 30s. I had spent the last several years working in Construction Consulting and had worked my way up to managing the fast-growing New York office for a national construction consulting firm. They were busy and exciting years. Starting a new business was a pretty big risk back then. My wife Laura and I had one young daughter and were planning to have more kids soon. I had a stable career and lots of opportunities for growth. However, I saw that there was a tremendous need for the kind of company that Beacon Consulting Group would become...

President's Message, February 2023

I hope your year is off to a great start. Here at Beacon, our team has been hard at work on construction consulting assignments across the U.S. This month's Beacon E-News highlights some of the things we have been up to. In January, I participated in the ABA Fidelity & Surety Law Committee's (FSLC) Midwinter Conference, along with several other Beacon staff members. It was great to see so many interesting presentations and panel discussions, network with other surety industry professionals, and reconnect with many of our old friends, partners, and clients. Beacon Bears Pond Hockey Team Competes in 14th Annual New England Pond Hockey Classic

The Beacon Bears Pond Hockey team participated in this year's New England Pond Hockey Classic held on February 3-5, 2023. The event was held in Meredith, NH, on Lake Waukewan (right next to New Hampshire’s famous Lake Winnipesaukee, the original site for the tournament). The Bears participated in the “TWIG Recreational Division” where each team has a maximum roster size of 8 players (age 21 and up). Temperatures were very cold this year (with wind chills down to -40F and warnings from the National Weather Service). However, this did not stop Beacon’s hardy crew from hitting the ice and having a lot of fun. Among Beacon's veteran players were Dennis O'Neill and his brother John, both of whom overcame past injuries and operations which might have discouraged less rugged athletes. President's Message, December 2022

Happy Holidays! Once again, another year has flown by. 2022 has been a successful year for Beacon Consulting Group. We have had the pleasure of working on and completing many interesting projects across the U.S. for a wide range of clients, old and new. I would like to thank all of our incredible clients for choosing Beacon as their trusted Construction Consulting partner. I would also like to thank all of our incredibly talented staff members here at Beacon. Not only do we have a very competent, dedicated, and hard-working team, each member of our staff is a unique, high-quality person who I am proud to call my friend. It was fantastic to see most of our team members at Beacon's annual corporate meeting and holiday party held in Boston last week. Check out this month's E-News articles below for some fun photos from this year's festivities...

Beacon President's Message, October 2022

I hope your fall is going well. October is a great month here in the Boston area. Foliage is at its peak, the weather is crisp and clear, and there are plenty of great outdoor activities going on. On a beautiful Sunday earlier this month, my wife and I went to see the New England Patriots play the Detroit Lions at Gillette Stadium. It was a great all-around game by the Pats, who won 29-0, led by their rookie quarterback Bailey Zappe who did a fantastic job in his first NFL start. To top things off, the Patriots wore their vintage bright red uniforms and throwback helmets for the first time in many years, thanks to an NFL rule change (see photos here). However, what really made the day fun was watching the game with our long-time friends Pat and Marianne Tompkins.

The throwback uniforms and helmets featuring the old team logo ("Pat The Patriot") reminded me just how fast time flies by and how important it is to make the most of every day. The Patriots were wearing those same red uniforms when my friend Pat and I attended high school back in the 1980s. Faster than I would like, 35+ years have flown by, and Pat and I have both been working in the construction industry for 25+ years. Click below for full message and photos...
