Beacon Consulting Group Staff Profile: James Bruno, LEED AP, PMP, Vice President

Jim Bruno is a seasoned construction consulting professional with more than 32 years of experience. Jim joined Beacon Consulting Group in 2005 and has been a leader in Beacon's Medford, MA office ever since. After successfully leading a wide range of construction consulting assignments, Jim was promoted to the position of Vice President of Beacon in 2015. During his career, Jim has worked on projects ranging in size from $5 Million in contract value to more than $400 Million.

Prior to joining Beacon, Jim spent several years as a senior project manager working on one of the largest infrastructure projects ever in the U.S.—the “Big Dig” tunnel project in Boston, MA. In that role, Jim was instrumental in completing several key sections of the Big Dig project. Jim earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.

During his 18 years with Beacon, Jim's primary focus has been on applying his construction consulting expertise to assist leading Surety Companies with complex bond default matters including:

  • Financial Assessments of Construction Projects
  • Construction Project Relets
  • Managing Construction Completion
  • Construction Claims Analyses

As an engineer and certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Jim brings unique technical, analytical and process-related experience to all the projects he works on. Jim has also provided expert testimony on a variety of construction-related mediations and litigations. In addition to having extensive construction management expertise, Jim is highly experienced in cost-control systems, estimating, claims and budget forecasting. Jim has also led many construction defects assessments for leading insurance companies. Beyond his role as a senior consultant on some of Beacon's largest assignments, Jim plays a leadership role in the overall management of Beacon's Massachusetts project team.

  • Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official

Interests & Hobbies. Jim grew up playing competitive sports and, in recent years, enjoyed playing on Beacon's after-work softball team ("The Beacon Bears"). His love of sports has been helpful in Jim's role as a father and coach—Jim and his wife Susan have three sons (ages 16, 18, and 20) who have been active in a wide variety of team sports over the years, including football, hockey, and track & field.
