Beacon's team will be participating in the ABA's FSLC Midwinter Conference to be held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans, January 24-26. This is always a great event which brings together the leading Surety companies, law firms, and consultants who are active in the field. On the first day, Beacon's President Dennis O'Neill will be participating as a "faculty member" for the conference's Construction Program. Specifically, he will be a member of the expert panel discussing "Processes In Construction." This panel will delve into all of the processes which must be planned and managed during any construction project, starting with those which take place before on-site work begins and going all the way through to the project closeout process. Dan Newcombe is a seasoned construction expert with 28+ years of experience working on domestic and international projects. Dan has extensive hands-on experience managing virtually every aspect of a construction project. His knowledge, experience, and incredible interpersonal skills make Dan an invaluable member of Beacon's team. We caught up with Dan recently and asked him some questions about working in the Construction Consulting field (click below for Dan's full profile and interview).
Beacon Consulting Group was retained by a leading Surety to provide construction consulting / surety claims consulting services related to a homeless shelter renovation project in downtown Fort Lauderdale, FL. Beacon was hired to help ensure that the project was completed following the default of the General Contractor on the project. The $1.2-million first phase of the building's renovation included the upgrade / renovation of bathrooms, shower rooms, and adjoining spaces used by residents. This entailed upgrades to mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, sprinkler, and fire alarm. The project also included all related finish work (such as painting, tile work, flooring, etc). Kieran O'Connor served as Beacon's Lead Consultant and Project Manager for this assignment. Click below for full project profile.

It was a truly memorable two days, with our corporate meeting held at the beautiful Omni Hotel in Boston's Seaport District. I hope your Fall is going well. Please check out this month's Beacon E-news for updates on our projects, staff, and general construction news, including a staff profile of Simon Gallagher who joined our team in January of 2023. Another interesting item in this month's newsletter is an article about the incredible "Sphere" arena which opened in Las Vegas recently (with U2 performing the inaugural concert on Sept. 29th). The Sphere is an amazing feat of architecture, construction engineering, and multi-media technology. Not only is it the largest spherical structure in the world, but it also features the largest high-definition LED screen (more than 4 acres in size).
