Beacon News

President's Message, July 2025

It's been a hot summer here in the Boston area. We recently hit triple digits again—our second 100°F day of the season! I hope you're staying cool and finding time to enjoy some well-earned summer vacation. This month’s edition of Beacon’s E-News highlights two particularly interesting project profiles:

Montreal Tunnel Renovation (Canada). Beacon is playing a key role in a major tunnel renovation project. The Ville-Marie Tunnel, which supports over 115,000 vehicles daily, is a vital part of the city’s highway network. Our team has been consulting on and monitoring a critical component of the renovation: the performance testing and delivery of advanced jet air fans. These high-powered fans will be strategically installed along the tunnel to ensure proper airflow and exhaust gas removal. John Richmond, with support from other Beacon team members, has been leading this important effort.

Solar Energy Fields (Upstate New York). South of the border in Upstate New York, Beacon is providing construction consulting services for the completion of seven separate solar energy fields. We were brought in by a leading surety after the default and termination of a key electrical contractor on the projects. Our team brings deep experience in solar energy work, including recent assignments in Massachusetts and Orange County, NY. This project is being led by John Yeung and Myat Cyn from our New York office.

Also in this issue, we share highlights from the Surety Claims Institute’s 50th Annual Meeting, held June 25–27 in Manchester, VT. I had the honor of participating in a panel discussion on how construction technologies have evolved over the decades—it was a great way to help celebrate SCI’s milestone anniversary.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable remainder of the summer! As always, if you need support on any construction consulting matter, please don’t hesitate to Contact Beacon.

Best regards,

Dennis O'Neill, President
