Project Profile: Leading Surety Selects Beacon for Construction Consulting on 7 Solar Energy Projects

Beacon has been retained by a leading surety company to provide Construction Consulting and Surety Claims Consulting services for seven solar energy projects currently under development in New York State. The engagement follows the default and subsequent termination of the lead electrical contractor overseeing all the projects. In response, the surety turned to Beacon to support a wide range of critical services, including:

  • Assessing the status of each project
  • Preparing preliminary cost-to-complete estimates
  • Analyzing the details of the default / termination claim
  • Advising on the optimal path forward for one specific project

The projects consist of utility-scale solar energy fields, all selling power to the local grid. Project Highlights include:

  • Average project size: (5.5 MW)
  • Site sizes range from 29 to 67 acres
  • Average solar field (5.98 MW / 34 acres)
  • Average of 11,076 individual solar panels
  • A typical solar panel output is 540W

Beacon Vice President John Yeung and Project Manager Myat Cyn are leading the effort on behalf of Beacon’s team. This assignment continues Beacon’s active role in supporting renewable energy infrastructure across the U.S., building on a growing portfolio of similar engagements.
