Remembering Mike Paquet: A Good Friend & Talented Construction Professional

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend Mike Paquet, who passed away peacefully in early December after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. In recent years, Mike worked as a construction consultant for Beacon, mostly working on site to help monitor, supervise and expedite the completion of construction projects on behalf of surety companies.

For those of us who had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mike, he will be remembered as a dedicated and knowledgeable professional who had a great sense of humor, a love of life, and many talents.

Not only did Mike have decades of experience in the construction industry, both as a GC and a consultant, he was a talented woodworker and painter. Earlier in his career, Mike, along with his brother John, started M.J. Paquet, Inc., a Heavy Highway Transportation Construction firm. For over 30 years, M.J. Paquet, Inc. completed complex heavy transportation projects, both public and private, throughout the Tri-State (NJ/NY/CT) area. Despite being a boss at a successful construction company, Mike remained very hands on and was quite comfortable jumping behind the controls of a backhoe or sharing a laugh with workers on site.

Mike was very proud of his three adult children, two of which became successful construction industry professionals as well. Mike also loved sports and spending time with his grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Paquet family during this difficult time. Mike, we will miss your smile, your sense of humor and the great passion and dedication which you brought to every assignment. Mike's full obituary can be found online here.
