Marcus Lehner is a key member of Beacon's Medford, MA Construction Consulting team. Marcus joined Beacon in 2014 following his graduation from Northeastern University with a degree in Civil Engineering. After working on a wide range of assignments for Beacon in the NYC area, Marcus took a "break" for a year to obtain a Masters Degree in Structural Engineering (also from Northeastern University). He completed his degree while still working part-time for Beacon. After obtaining his masters degree, Marcus re-joined Beacon full time, relocating to our Medford, Massachusetts office where he has proven to be an invaluable member of our team. Beacon was retained by a leading surety company to help with the completion of a specialized marine construction project in Somerville, MA, just a few miles northwest of Boston. The project entailed the replacement of the "Somerville Tide Gate" which is part of the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority's (MWRA) combined sewer overflow (CSO) system. Tide gates are devices that help isolate sewer system piping from natural bodies of water and/or prevent river water from entering a sewer (or sewage treatment system) during high tides and river flooding events.
Myat Cyn joined Beacon Consulting Group in 2018 as a project engineer and has proven to be an invaluable member of our team. Based on her hard work, positive attitude, dedication to serving Beacon's clients, and technical competence, Myat was promoted to the position of Assistant Project Manager in 2021. Beacon was recently selected by a leading Surety to provide construction consulting services related to a building renovation project for a New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) facility in the Bronx, NY. The Surety retained Beacon following the default of the General Contractor (GC) on the project. The building, located in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, is a 2-story (plus basement) office building which houses offices for the DOT's Parking Violations Bureau and Highway Operations. As I write this note, I'm down working in Beacon's New York City office. This is just a few short blocks from where Beacon was founded 20 years ago this week. At that time, I was a young engineer in my early 30s. I had spent the last several years working in Construction Consulting and had worked my way up to managing the fast-growing New York office for a national construction consulting firm. Recently, the company was retained by a leading Surety company to provide construction consulting services related to a public housing renovation project in New York City.
